Welcome to the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS/Heartland)

    The Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System of Heartland (FDLRS/Heartland) provides diagnostic, instructional, and technology support services to district exceptional education programs and families of students with disabilities.

    Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System of Heartland (FDLRS/Heartland) is one of nineteen associate centers developed by the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education & Student Services and funded through federal dollars and state general revenue money.

FDLRS provides services under the four main functions:

- Child Find - Early Childhood Screening and Service Planning

- Human Resource Development (HRD) - Professional Development and Support for Teachers

- Parent Services - Instructional, Assistive and Communication Technology Support & Training

- Technology - Partnerships between Families and Schools Training and Support

    The network has supported educators, families and agencies working with children with disabilities and special needs for over twenty years.

    The FDLRS Heartland Associate Center is located in Lake Placid, Florida and serves Desoto, Glades, Hendry and Highlands Counties.

The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System is funded by the State of Florida, Department of Education, Division of Public Schools and Community Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education & Student Services, through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). IDEA Part B, Preschool; and State General Revenue Funds.
