FDLRS Heartland Parent Services

The parent services function provides workshops, conferences and support to families and districts in order to promote effective participation in the education of children and youth who are exceptional and/or have special needs.

The goals of Parent Services are:

• Providing families with information and guidance on how to access educational and community services

• Emphasizing partnerships between schools and community support services

• Strengthening home-school relationship by facilitating positive pro-active communication between families and educators

• Increasing awareness of family issues and concerns in school and communities
